Peacock necklace from JC Penny/ Ammonite necklace from Street Fair- Asheville, NC

In case you don't appreciate the title.... a) we are all patiently waiting for fashion show pictures and b) today was Lil Wayne's birthday... I had to.  So I decided to post an outfit to "tide my readers over" until those pictures are sent to me. It is bittersweet that this is my first post wearing jeans.  I like fall... but I know what comes next.... 4-5 months of winter :( at least in the high country!  Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! You're half way through!

Sneak Peek

Make-up for CARNIVAL Fashion Show @ Lucky Penny

Sorry to be so lame and not have a weekends-worth of exciting outfits for y'all. Consider this a sneak peek at exciting Fashion Show pictures! (I am waiting for the photographer to post them). Also, I wanted to let it be known that the Clemson/Florida State game was incredible.  It was the first win I have ever experienced in Death Valley.  I WOULD have pictures of my game-day outfit, but I temporarily misplaced my camera cause my life is a hot mess... therefore, all the pictures are on Austin's camera, therefore.... I won't see them for a month. At least.

 Better luck next time seminoles!

Is it the weekend yet?

Shirt from JC Penny/ Free People dress/ Lucky Brand Necklace/ Chinese Laundry boots

Oh me, oh my.  I have been so busy lately I have been neglecting my blog.  Monday was a 9.5 hour day on campus. Tuesday was my "free afternoon day," which I spent doing my art project for 3.5 hours (due today), and studied for my two exams that were this morning (back-to-back starting at 10am). Today was a 10.5 hour day; but I didn't really mind the last hour because I was getting fitted for the fashion show at Lucky Penny.... it's going to be CARNIVAL THEMED and so much fun!!! Now, if I play my cards right by writing a research paper on a future job of interest, making a informational pamphlet on our Face AIDS chapter, and filling out a club grant request form for Face AIDS, along with going to all my classes and doing my homework by 5pm on Friday.... I will be able to enjoy a worry-free weekend at the Clemson/Florida State game with my soon-to-be-20 best friend and my tiger-lovin' boyfriend. Wish me luck!

Lucky Me

Free People top/ short tights from Lucky Penny/ Lucky Brand necklace/ TOMS wedges

First of all, please excuse my nerdy sock line on the close up photo of the TOMS WEDGES! I really felt a need to address that....
Anyway, I have had this fabulous shirt dress since last winter (oh yeah--I caught it on sale!) and I was so anxious to wear it all summer, but it was too scandalous to wear without bottoms.  Leggings just weren't cutting it, and skinny jeans were too hot and predictable.  Lucky for me, Lucky Penny had these crazy lace short tights that were just right.  I was also lucky to be able to sneak in taking pictures of this outfit before this crazy cold front came in! But what put the cherry on the top of the lucky cake?  My saturday night shift at work got dropped, and I got to go to the game! YES!
GO APP!!!

Great Minds Think Alike

Shirt, Skirt, and Necklace from Lucky Penny- Boone, NC

Old Gringo boots/ Vogue sunglasses

Funny story about these boots.... I had a job at a western store, fell in love with these boots, took a lifetime to pay them off, etc.  Well Miranda Lambert's Revolution album had just come out.  I was on youtube listening to her songs to try and decide if I wanted to buy the whole album when I came across songs from an extended play track.  I developed an unhealthy obsession with tracking down this extended play album.  I finally found out (thanks to Yahoo! Answers) that if you pre-ordered Revolution from Best Buy, then the extended play track came with it.  So of course I went to Best Buy at my earliest convenience, and OF COURSE when I asked someone about it, no one knew what I was talking about.  So then I went over the spot where all her CD's were and picked up Revolution and was smoking it over and flipped over to the back and MIRANDA LAMBERT WAS WEARING MY BOOTS ON HER BACK ALBUM COVER!!! So then I screamed just like this (I'm not telling you if I did the airplanes or not.... I have to maintain SOME dignity).

The Start Of Something Beautiful

Shirt from Mast General Store

Shoes and Belt from Lucky Penny- Boone, NC

Oh, this skirt? Yeah, I made it!

This skirt is the reason I am pursuing a degree in Apparel and Textiles.
Clemson was always and forever my first choice in schools.  If I went to Clemson, I would get a degree in Health Science and go on to be a world-renowned chiropractor.  If for some reason, pigs flew, hell froze over, and I didn't get into Clemson, I would go to AppState and be an Apparel and Textiles major--something that would come naturally and that I would have a lot of fun doing, to compensate for not being at my first choice school.  Well I didn't see any flying pigs, but on Valentines Day 2009 I got a rejection letter from Clemson...... to say I was crushed would be an understatement.  I came to AppState and decided to be an Exercise Science major because I would have a lot more job opportunities than an Apparel and Textiles major.  Yeah, I chickened out.  It took me 1 1/2 years to figure out I wasn't too good at science and if "science" was part of "exercise science," I better get out while I can.  Second semester of sophomore year, I had an "exploratory semester" and took Jogging, Chinese Medicine, Sociology and Apparel Construction.  I really wanted to explore all my options since I was back at square one.  Our first real project in Apparel Construction was to make a skirt.  I bet it took me an hour and a half in the fabric store to pick out my pattern and fabric; because if MY name was on it, I wanted it to be the best one in the class.  After countless hours, lots of coffee breaks, ripping stitches, resewing, and alterations... I can't think of many things I've ever been more proud of.  It definitely wasn't the most complicated one in the class, but I was more than pleased with how it turned out.  After that, it was a no-brainer; I was meant to be an Apparel and Textiles major.  The only time I can recall that I have been more proud, besides completing my first garment, is when I gathered the courage to go declare my major.... knowing that I am going to put my heart and soul into my work and probably get criticized and turn down a lot in the next few years, but eventually I'll be where I want to be. Cheesy.... but true.

PS: Exercise Science is for the birds.

"T-Shirt Time!!"

Shirt from Target/ J. Crew Outlet Necklace and Shorts/ MIA Wedges

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.  Watching four seasons of Jersey Shore will do that to you.  Annnyyyway, about the outfit..... if I could wear it everyday, I would.  So simple, so comfortable.  I wish that the lavender (shorts and necklace) would have photographed better so you could appreciate it them the way that I do.... oh well, better luck next time.  I actually got these shorts (exciting, because I love purple) and then my boyfriend bought me the necklace to match them... sweet, right?  I was excited.... but I'm easily excitable... especially when it comes to adding pieces to my closet.  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on a mission to find me some Snooki Slippers........................ kidding........................ or am I?

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Fossil bag/ Dress from Macy's/ Corral boots

Hair clip from Nordstrom/ Earrings from Lucky Penny- Boone, NC

In case you don't know, the most wonderful time of the year is NOT around Christmas.  The most wonderful time of the year is when the sunflowers are in bloom and NFL football starts.  Only 7 hours and 10 minutes til kickoff for week one...GO PACK! Also, there are few things more beautiful than a big yellow sunflower, as round as your head.  So you can only imagine how excited I was to find this long row of these beautiful flowers.  Almost as excited as I was when I found this awesome dress to match my awesome hair clip.

The 411 on No White After Labor Day

J. Crew Outlet Skirt/ Chico's Outlet Top/ Shoes from Lucky Penny-Boone, NC

Truth is, back in the day the upper-class would spend their summers vacationing in the country.  They would wear white in order to reflect the sun and maintain a cooler body temperature.  Since Labor Day marks the end of summer, it only makes sense that you would put up your white clothes, as well as all those lightweight summer fabrics.  This makes sense to me....maybe because I live in the coldest place in America.  However, if you ARE one of those rebellious types that likes to wear white after Labor Day, all I'm asking is that you don't wear THIS white outfit after Labor Day.... or any other day of the year... you might attract some attention.... the kind of attention where moms glare at you and hide their small children behind their legs.
