Happy Halloween

My inspiration.

The original dress (Sweetheart Court, my junior year in high school), yes, my date had a black eye haha (in his defense, I am pretty sure it happened during a wrestling match)

After my alterations, I had this little red number; add the garter and the red high heels and VOILA!

Can't forget the red lipstick and long eyelashes!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend! I can't wait to share my New York trip (and the outfits I wore, of course) in my next post!

Be back in 5.... days!

I am currently using the computer in the Loft that AppState has up here in NYC.  This is the first time I have ever been to New York and I am so excited to see everything that I can see! Day 1 just consisted of a 10.5 hour train ride, 3 hours of sleep, 2 hours of shopping and a delicious dinner... but I am ready to stomp my cowboy boots all over this place! So that means no posts for the next 5 days.... but I am excited to share my trip with you all when I get back!! I hope everyone has a great week!

Halloween Inspiration

With 10 days til Halloween, I'm sure you all are scrambling to figure out what you would like to be!  So I figured I'd provide you some Halloween inspiration :)

Couple from Juno

Kim K as Wonder Woman

Gwen Stefani as Jessie from Toy Story

Anne Hathaway as Cleopatra

(For the guys!) I thought this bee keeper was pretty clever

And we can't forget about the kids (cause they're the cutest!)

A penny

Papa Smurf

My personal favorite: Kip from Napoleon Dynamite

Baby owl

Haha, sushi kid

 And for the dogs....
Vampire Dogs

Pilot Dog

Dogs from the Wizard of Oz

Cowboy Riding Dog

The Katy Perry Dog

Speaking of Katy Perry, I must brag on myself for making my own California Girls costume last year.  I used styrofoam, decorative christmas ornament balls, can lids, tissue paper, and all sorts of candy!

And yes, that's Diemon Dave in the background!

Truly Vintage

Shirt from Target/ Skirt and Lucchese boots from Watsonatta Western World- Boone, NC

 Lia Sophia Necklace

Guess how much I paid for this skirt?  $10!  Deal of the day, right? Any true lover of clothes knows the hatred you feel towards someone else when you're in a store and they pick up the (last) shirt/skirt/bracelet/whatever that you were JUST headed for! Well, I used to work in this western store and this skirt hung on our sale rack the entire time I worked there (and maybe 15 years before that), and one day..... this girl had the gall to pick up the skirt that I eyeballed everyday that I was at work, but wouldn't buy because it was a size 9/10, and I am not.    For whatever reason, she did not purchase it; so I finally decided to quit denying my love for this crazy thing try it on.  How did I know this skirt was "truly vintage"?   Because I was a 3/4 and was still considering getting my last pair of ribs removed so I could wear it (oh yeah, and it had been marked down like 16 times).  The only alteration I had to make was making it more fitted at the hem. $10? The hairline fracture I got in my rib when I sat down? Totally worth it.

The old saying goes....

Free People top/ Jessica Simpson skinny jeans/ Rocketdog flats

Lia Sophia earrings/ GUESS watch/ Ring from Silver Armadillo- Asheville, NC

One man's trash is another person's treasure?  That's kind of how me and Mekenzie (my wonderful photographer) felt about this broken-down pile of old bleachers.... at least as far as making interesting photography angles.  As for the outfit.... believe it or not, I wore this top as a dress this summer and I washed it ONE time and it shrunk up this high.  Come to find out, that is a common problem with 100% viscose fabric... along with wrinkling easily.  Darn.  It's the weekend, and we still learned something new.

Sporty Chic

So instead of making a new post, this is what I did all weekend!  Austin and I met our friends Shaine and Corine in Lilburn, GA and went to the Packers game (final score: 25-14 GO PACK GO). I tried to keep it fashionable with skinny jeans and my Blowfish boots, but it's hard to work with an oversize jersey (not to mention, it is longer in the back than it is in the front).  But you can't have an Aaron Rogers jersey and NOT rock it at a Packers game! But for future reference, does anyone have any insight on other trendy ways to wear a jersey?

The Girl's Got Style

Old Navy scarf/ Dress from Lucky PennyLane Boots/ Lia Sophia earrings/ Lucky Brand bracelet

<3 my Lanes!

So today... I was standing in line for my daily "pumpkin pie chai freeze with a shot of expresso" and in a span of 5 minutes I found myself saying "I love your skirt!" (purple with paisley and elephants... sounds tacky, but it was awesome..... Ashevillian's would kill for it), and "I love your bookbag!" (she had a floral Billabong backpack with matching floral Ked-like shoe), and "I love your outfit....and yours!" (one girl in a black and white horizontal stripe dress with a big red waist belt, another girl in a floral high-waist, knee-length skirt and a pale yellow tank with a light olive green cardigan over it...so adorable).   In case you were counting my grammar mistakes instead of how many girls I complimented... that was 4 girls.  I felt like the random girl in the coffee shop who was making a desperate attempt to make new friends, but I really felt a need to address all of their outfits.  It was as if.... we had that nasty little cold front, and then when it was suddenly 72 today, people were inspired to dress adorably. Which brought me to the thought.... what if I featured other people's style on my blog too?  If someone complimented your outfit, and asked if they could take a picture and feature it on their blog, and gave you the blog info.... would you be creeped out? Or flattered?  Tell me your thoughts!
